Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan previously said that Turkey was considering purchasing COVID-19 vaccines from Russia and China.
RTErdogan discussed the possibility of acquiring a Russian vaccine with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The Turkish leader also said that his country is developing a vaccine against the pandemic coronavirus itself.
Turkey has already asked for 50 million. SinoVac, a Chinese company, is also in talks to buy a vaccine developed by the American pharmaceutical giant Pfizer and its German partner BioNTech.
Russia’s direct investment fund (RFPI) said on Wednesday that reports about Turkey’s refusal to buy a Russian vaccine were false and that negotiations were ongoing.

Koca said later Wednesday that Ankara would buy Russian vaccines if tested successfully.
“We are ready to buy a Russian vaccine if it passes toxicological tests and meets the requirements of good laboratory practice,” the minister said at a press conference.
He added that Turkish doctors have already started testing the Russian COVID-19 vaccine.
