Tryškiai residents rebelled: after reconstruction, they would not cross the main street

Reconstruction of the main road through the town of Tryškiai, which has a population of almost 1,500, began this spring.

Residents stated that they were immediately uncomfortable – some remained incarcerated at their home and were unable to leave due to work in progress, and guests were forced to park when they arrived.

“We are happy that we have now managed to get asked to touch the road from time to time, because due to the dust we were unable to open our windows during the heat. What can we talk about laundry, ”said a resident of Tryškiai, who did not want to announce his name.

Residents – no access to patio

As work accelerated, it became clear that no entry had been made to some of the plots. It will be much more difficult for people with disabilities and people with reduced mobility to access medical care if access to local outpatient clinics is difficult.

“Is it as if people entered their houses without a driveway? Someone joked that a helicopter would be needed. But laughter is no longer a reality here,” the woman resented.

Asta Simonavičienė, president of the Tryškiai city community board, stated that the local community has several complaints about the ongoing reconstruction works. It was only when work was in full swing that I saw a real problem.

“The entrances to the courtyards were made too high in some places, the plots seemed to be on a hill. Some people will even have to destroy the wealth they have created. There is very little room left to turn from the secondary roads to the main one. We already had a case where a tractor driver did not turn and fell. The street itself is too narrow, it will be impossible for heavy vehicles to pass, ”said A. Simonavičienė.

He said that he had repeatedly heard that the Lithuanian Highway Administration had coordinated the project with residents. However, the residents themselves shrug their shoulders: they will not remember such a presentation in 2018.

Last week, community members held a meeting to strongly criticize the project. The next day, he summoned local politicians, government officials and a member of the Seimas representing the community and demonstrated that it would be impossible for heavy vehicles to pass through here.

Heavy weight does not bend

Residents ask at least in some places to lower curbs to allow tractors or harvesters to pass.

Contact the Highway Administration, what can the village elder answer?

Tryškiai’s elder, Antanas Jokubauskis, was unwilling to comment on the work being done in the city.

“Contact the Highway Administration, what can the village elder reply? I myself was not working as an elder at the time. Apparently, like everyone else, the project has its drawbacks ”, the older man was laconic. However, what those disadvantages – did not respond.

The highway authorities will ask that the project be corrected.

Valentinas Bukauskas, a member of the Tryškiai Seimas, stated that the reconstruction works really have shortcomings and residents are not unnecessarily outraged.

“They say that what they saw during the reconciliation and what is happening now is different. The project has flaws and this has been demonstrated by the residents themselves. If it does not adjust, the reasonable question arises as to whether the accident rate in Tryškiai will not increase. ” 15 minutes said V. Bukauskas.

According to him, on Thursday the Tryškiai delegation will go to Vilnius, to the Lithuanian Highway Administration, and will be asked to adjust the project.

Tomas Katkus, director of the Telšiai municipal administration, stated that during the visit to Tryškiai, decisions were made on what really needs to be corrected.

“The width of the road is too narrow: 3.25 meters, and the width of agricultural machinery can reach 3.9 m. It would be impossible to overtake with freight transport. In certain places, we will ask you to lower the curbs to happen.

It is difficult to understand why the entrances to people’s yards are not formed in certain places. In other places, the plots were found too high. The turning radii are too small and too heavy for heavy machinery to turn, ”T. Katkus told the problems.

Wait for the reproaches to be heard and the draft corrected.

Directorate of Roads: The project was agreed

In May, the Lithuanian Highway Administration received a complaint from residents about the reconstruction works on Market Square, Klaipėda and Telšių streets. The residents were sent the same response that was formulated later and 15 minutes.

It notes that a road safety audit was conducted in September 2018. The draft was modified in accordance with the audit observations accepted by the Highway Administration.

The Directorate also recalled that more than two years ago, the project to rebuild the Tryškiai Cultural Center was presented to the residents of the city. It is emphasized that no additional questions were raised during the meeting regarding highway lane widths or carriageway widths.

August 9, an expert examination was conducted and a positive expert report was received, in which it was stated that the project complies with the requirements of the laws and legal acts of the Republic of Lithuania and the normative technical construction documents.

The project was approved by order of the Director of the Directorate of Roads. In October, the Telšiai District Municipality issued a building permit for the project.
