If you did not know, it is not too late to celebrate, because this time, the grill master Vylius Blauzdavičius tells everything you need to know about hot dogs and shares a unique recipe, whose flavor will take you to another planet.

According to V. Blauzdavičius, he has had to prepare hundreds of different sausages throughout his life.

According to the chef, he loves good hot dogs, because this dish gives a lot of room for imagination.

“Sausages are one of those dishes that can be adapted to everyone’s tastes and needs. In preparing them, you should feel free, unfettered, and improvised; this is probably the main feature of this dish. Different buns, sauces and toppings can be used. Also, children especially like to build their hot dogs. The peanuts feel grown up, when I let them choose a chorizo, vegetable or sauce, I put everything on a roll ”, says the grill expert.

Universal sausage

The interviewee points out that Lithuanian and foreign sausages are not at all different: this dish can be considered universal.

True, according to the chef, other countries with deeper traditions of eating sausages used to use slightly higher quality products in the past, but our country is catching up very quickly in this regard.

“Recently, Lithuanians are paying more and more attention to product quality and willingly choose ingredients that will not disappoint them. For example, all the ingredients for the sausage can easily be found in Lidl stores, and the sausages from the Grill & Fun assortment will make you lick your fingers, ”says V. Blauzdavičius.

Taste depends on imagination

Speaking of sausage seasonings, the chef tells you that a classic sausage will need muffins, hot dogs, ketchup, and mustard, but your final choice will depend on your imagination and favorite ingredients.

“The common sausage variant sounds a bit boring to me, so I often choose more vegetables of all kinds, such as pickles, onion chips, feta cheese, or liquid cheese sauce, which, like other sauces, I make at home. Once again, I emphasize that you only need to have a quality meat chorizo, a soft and delicious bun on hand and let the process flow your way, ”says the grill expert.

Grilled sausages – simmered only

When preparing to celebrate Sausage Day in nature, it is very important to bake sausages correctly: “One of the biggest mistakes we make when baking sausages is to heat them over an open heat or high heat. You shouldn’t do this as this will break them and risk burning the sausages. Bake sausages at low temperature: Enjoy the company of your loved ones or friends without rushing to cut other ingredients. Also, baking hot dogs at low temperatures will make them much juicier. “

Finally, for those who do not want to improvise or who need an initial boost to stimulate their imagination, the chef offers to try a recipe for delicious hot dogs bathed in cheese sauce that will not leave you indifferent.

Sausages with cheese sauce

4 servings will require:

  • 4 sausage buns,
  • 4 grilled chicken or pork sausages from the Grill & Fun range at Lidl stores
  • 100 g of Pilos cheddar cheese
  • 100 g of marbled blue cheese
  • 4 tablespoons tomato sauce
  • 4 pickles,
  • 4 tablespoons onion chips
  • 2 pink onions,
  • tablespoon brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar.

Cooking: First, of course, heat up the barbecue or light up the grill. Cut the onions in half, cut them into thin halves, mix them in a bowl with sugar and vinegar, leave to marinate. Cut the cucumbers finely.

Heat a cast iron skillet on the barbecue, place the sausages in it and bake for about 5 minutes until it begins to grill, then mash the cheddar and blue cheese on them and stir until the cheese melts.

Toast the buns on both sides on the grill. On a toasted bun, add tomato sauce, pickles, pickled onions, sausage, pour cheese sauce from skillet, and sprinkle with onion chips on top.

It won’t take half an hour and the sausages will be ready!
