Onions

Often times, even people who really like to cook have a hard time cutting onions. The first challenge to deal with is the pungent smell that makes you cry. For those who want to avoid this, V. Juodkazienė advises to keep the onions in the refrigerator for 10-15 minutes before cutting them, and especially for those who are in a hurry: put the knife under running cold water.

“To cut the onion well, make some horizontal cuts first, but don’t cut them all the way through. Then turn the onion over a 90 degree angle and make some shallower vertical cuts and chop into pieces of the desired size, ”says the food expert.

Tomatoes

Before cutting tomatoes, first make sure your kitchen knife is sharp. Otherwise they will not be cut into equal pieces and may rub lightly.

“It is not difficult to slice tomatoes neatly. Cut the tomatoes in half first. Then divide both sides into three or four parts. If you need thinner pieces, grind the resulting pieces to the required size. Well, if you want to cut tomatoes into strips, first divide these vegetables into five plates and then divide into strips ”, advises V. Juodkazienė.

Peppers

Mashing peppers can be the biggest hurdle for your testicles. They often stick to the knife, stick to the table or the floor.

“To cut the peppers well and remove the seeds, first cut the top and bottom. Then place the pepper vertically on the table and carefully cut the sides. If everything is done correctly, the seeds will remain in one place and will be discarded, ”says V. Juodkazienė.

To prepare carrots for a snack, a food expert advises cutting them with straws or slices. According to her, in this way these vegetables retain the greatest amount of juice and look aesthetically pleasing.

“When making a vegetable salad, try slicing the carrots with a vegetable peeler as if you were shaving. This way they will be crispy and decorate the plate. This method is also perfect for cucumbers, zucchini and other similarly shaped vegetables ”, shares V. Juodkazienė.

Cabbage

To cut the cabbage well, it is especially important to choose a sharp knife. Before slicing, ditch the wrapped top cabbage leaves and place the vegetables on a firm, non-slip surface.

“First divide the cabbage in half and then in half. When you have received four equal parts, cut the hard part of the cabbage. Cut the remaining vegetables into strips of the desired size,” says V. Juodkazienė.

For those who like small, uniform-sized pieces of cabbage, a food expert also advises using a grill. This kitchen appliance will ensure that you chop your vegetables even faster and with greater precision.

There are a variety of ways to cut potatoes, but recipes for soups, stews, and other dishes often include dicing them.

“To cut the potatoes into cubes, first cut them in half. Then divide them into smaller strips and make sure they fit well on the table. Cut into pieces the size you want for the cubes. Then put the resulting strips next to each other, turn them 90 degrees and shred, ”says the food expert.
