Notification of the incident was received on Saturday at 4:25 p.m. emergency number 112.
According to preliminary data, in the Kalvarija district, on the Kalvarija – Jurgežeriai road, in the Jurgežeris Botanical Reserve, the Audi car went off the road and hit a tree. The driver of the car died in the traffic accident.
The Situation Coordination Division of the Fire and Rescue Department reported that rescuers had rescued the deceased driver from the wrecked car. Before firefighters arrived, doctors took the injured passenger from the car to hospital.
Fire and rescue forces were dispatched to the scene, and information about the incident was delivered to the Panevėžys Ambulance Station, the Marijampolė County Main Police Station.
