The tragic incident a few minutes ago brought all rescue services to their feet. A freight train passing through the village of Staiginė crashed and the girl was fatally injured.
Firefighters, ambulances and police came to the scene. Rescue teams do not allow journalists or people to enter the scene when the train is stopped.
Journalists from the Tauragė messenger present at the scene spoke with three minors who were walking in the exact place where the accident occurred. The girls said that they come to walk here every day and see the young men walk on the rails. Especially for such extreme hikes, a bridge over Ežeruona is chosen, where a tragedy is supposed to have taken place. From the scene of the tragedy, the train could run at least another kilometer until it came to a complete stop.
Doctors also communicate with the train conductor. The man suffered a shock. Ambulance medics working at the scene say they are seeing a scab incident for the first time.
The circumstances of the girl’s death are clarified. A pretrial investigation will be launched to determine the cause of death.
