“Žvėrynas is one of the oldest districts in the capital, where it is necessary to upgrade the engineering infrastructure and ensure a smooth and reliable gas supply. The low-pressure steel pipe in the block will be converted into a gas supply system medium pressure. For this, modern technology will be used, which will guarantee safety both during the works and during the operation of the already redesigned gas supply system “, comments Andrius Grekauskas, Director of the engineering infrastructure construction company Rimgauda, who performs the works.

According to A. Grekauskas, during the reconstruction the underground steel gas pipeline will be excavated and new polyethylene pipes will be inserted into it. After the conversion of the networks, the redundant and inoperative steel pipes will be disconnected from the common system and will be degassed. All pipeline conversion works will be carried out by the company in strict compliance with the environmental and property protection requirements.

In addition, during rebuilding, we will endeavor not to cause inconvenience to consumers. For residents, the pipeline will be disconnected for a maximum of 24 hours. During this relatively short period of time, the gas supply system in households will be transferred promptly, ”says the head of Rimgauda.

The pipeline drilling technology used in the reconstruction will avoid digging new trenches, demolition of the road surface and reconstruction work. In this way, the project will be implemented more quickly.

The reconstruction works of the gas pipeline between A. Mickevičius, Vytautas and Birutės streets will be carried out in several stages. The carriageway of the streets will be narrowed, the traffic will be carried out in the adjacent lanes, it will not be possible to park cars in the workplaces.

Estimated stages of work (preliminary dates) and traffic restrictions:

  • Phase I: from July 14. until September 30. traffic is restricted on Birutės and Vykinto streets;
  • Phase II: from July 28. until September 30. – Birutės, Liubarto and JI Kraševskio streets;
