A spokeswoman for the Kaunas police reported that the incident report had been received at around 4.30 pm.
According to preliminary data, the tractor, driven by a Latvian citizen (born 1980), began to brake, avoiding a collision with a car traveling in the same direction, and the slippery surface of the road made towing the heavy vehicle unmanageable. Another tractor traveling in the opposite direction, driven by an Estonian citizen (born 1965), saw a heavy vehicle drifting on the road and also began to brake, making the towing of this tractor unmanageable.
According to the police, a collision was not imminent and both heavy vehicles headed to different sides of the road, leaving their trailers on the stretches of the road.
According to a spokeswoman, one person was injured in the incident and was taken to hospital.
According to preliminary data, traffic on the Via Baltica highway near Truskava is completely closed. Once the trailers are removed, traffic will be allowed.
