“Jonava”, trained by Virginijus Šeškaus, announced that veterans Tomas Delininkaitis and Laimonas Kisielius had joined former LKL players Giedrius Staniulis, Ignas Labutis, Gediminas Žalalis and Darius Tarvydas, who were training, but it is not clear if all of these Club basketball players will remain in the club.
On Thursday and Friday, Jonava will compete at home in the Senior Cup tournament, where Pearl from Vilkaviškis, Sūduva-Mantinga from Marijampolė and Vytis from Šakiai will also play. The Jonavietis hosts will meet the Perlo team in the semi-finals.
“We will not see a real team in the video tournament yet. We will try to make up for the lack of play with experience, homework, it can be said, we are not done yet. It takes at least a month. But the tournament will be of great benefit to us, it will allow us feel the game, “said Virginijus Šeškus.
In addition to the aforementioned basketball players, Justas Vazalis, Nojus Pankratjevas, Redas Jakubauskas and Modestas Žaunieriūnas will also play on the team.
The coach said he was still looking for a player, probably a foreigner.
“Our biggest problem is the first problem. We can’t find any way, we will probably have to look abroad. When you choose such a team, you want the foreigner to have a similar level,” Šeškus said.
An experienced coach is not afraid that other NKL favorites may have better starting positions; Jonava’s goals remain high in any case.
“Late assembly will be difficult at first, but we will accelerate. The teams from Šakiai, Marijampolė, Telšiai have kept their cores, which adds a lot to the game, especially at the beginning of the season. But our main task is clear to everyone: to join the NKL quartet. And in the foursome, try to take first place.
Clearly, it won’t be easy. When you say that you are going to win, the opponents play against you in a completely different way, like against a strong team that doesn’t need to be motivated. Like playing against “Žalgiris”, said Šeškus.
