to the finance minister, it seems strange

“For me, the introduction of this tax seems quite strange to me, because it has almost nothing to do with the pollution (…) it really pollutes, not how many times you register the car,” G. Skaist L told LRT radio.

“I think a review of that tax is really needed, and what specific design will need further discussion and we will see what the Environment Ministry will offer. (…) I have not yet seen a specific design in person ”, added the Minister.

Environment Minister Simon Gentville said last week that he was considering changing the car pollution tax model and charging it annually. Currently, the fee is a one-time fee and is paid at the time of car registration.

The registration tax is paid when CO2 emissions exceed 130 grams per kilometer. Depending on the CO2 emissions and the type of fuel, the tax can range between € 13 and € 510.
