She presents a couple of recipes that will not only make you happy, but also allow you to remember the flavors of the ancestral dishes tasted by grandparents.

A bunch of meat and vegetables with cumin.

Šiupinys is one of the simplest Lithuanian dishes, which will always have ingredients at home. A full bunch may be perfect for a midnight table, but the most important thing to keep in mind is the golden rule: let your veggies take up more space on your plate than your meat. And of course, this dish includes one of the most traditional Lithuanian spices: cumin.

Ingredients:

  • 300 g of beef or pork ham;
  • 2 potatoes
  • 2 carrots
  • 2 onions
  • 4 cloves of garlic;
  • 1 can of canned chopped tomatoes;
  • 200 ml of broth;
  • 2 tbsp. butter spoon;
  • 1 tablespoon. cumin spoon;
  • salt and pepper and other favorite spices.

Doing:

1. Cut the meat into small pieces. Chop all the vegetables into larger cubes.

2. Heat the butter in a saucepan, add the chopped onion and garlic – fry for a couple of minutes until soft. Then add the meat to the skillet and cook until golden brown. Then pour everything into the broth, add the spices and wait for the ingredients to boil. Cover the pot with a lid and simmer for about 40 minutes.

3. Finally, add the chopped canned tomatoes to the bun, mix well and let heat a couple more minutes.

The castel made with sour cream and butter will decorate the table of every Midnight fasting with its simplicity and flavor. In its preparation, the most important thing is to carefully twist the products so that the butter melts completely and mixes with the sour cream. Traditionally, the castel is eaten with potatoes.

Ingredients:

  • 500 g of sour cream;
  • 3 tablespoons tablespoon butter;
  • 3 garlic cloves;
  • a pinch of cumin.

Note: Keep the butter and sour cream at room temperature for at least a couple of hours before casting.

Doing:

1. Put a tablespoon of sour cream and butter in a bowl – carefully unscrew with a wooden spoon. Then briefly place the container in another container of hot water. After a couple of minutes, remove it and put a tablespoon of sour cream and butter back in the bowl. Repeat this process until you have completely mixed these two ingredients; you should notice the formation of a solid mass.

2. When the dough begins to thicken, add the squeezed garlic and cumin – mix well.
