Celebrating its 20th anniversary, the Anželika Cholina Dance Theater invited the audience of the Vilnius Midsummer Festival to celebrate together from July 18 to 19, giving the audience gathered in the Palace of Rulers the opportunity to see the premiere of the performance of dance “Lady of Spades” based on the story by A. Pushkin.
As more people wanted to see the premiere than planned, it was decided to show the performance even for two days in a row. The first one, on Sunday, “Lady of Spades” was also watched by outgoing president Dalia Grybauskaitė.
Moments of the event – in the gallery:
“Lady of Spades” is Alexander Pushkin’s most mysterious and mystical work, and the phrase “three, seven, ace” is heard even by those who do not know the tragic fate of the Germans.
The original directing decisions and the emotional language of the dance add even more drama and tension to the performance of the director and choreographer Anželika Cholina. The play creatively creates the fate of the characters, and the story of the German himself is revealed to the viewer from a completely unexpected angle: the Queen of Spades becomes not only a fateful letter in his fate …
The performance is dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the creative activity of the ballet soloist Beata Molytė.
