Officials, who closely monitored and evaluated this entire situation, quickly understood the mechanism of the crime. After identifying the signs of a crime, a pretrial investigation into the unlawful possession and distribution of very large amounts of narcotic drugs or psychotropic substances was initiated by the Organized Crime Investigation Board of the Criminal Police of the County Police Chief Commissariat. from Vilnius.
After collecting sufficient data on the extremely serious crimes committed and the perpetrators, it was decided to arrest them. In a non-public area, in one of the districts of the capital, drug trafficking was registered “not from hand to hand”, but with a specially selected vehicle.
During the first phase, the police officers detained a person who had bought a large quantity of cannabis, about 2 kg of the drug. A search of his garage revealed purchased cannabis, more than a couple hundred grams of dried mushrooms containing psilocybin, and several hundred grams of tablets believed to contain the psychotropic substance MDMA.
The forensic specialists who conducted the investigations into the object will determine which specific psychotropic or narcotic substances were seized.
Along with this person, another person was arrested and to whom a small quantity of drugs was distributed.
The next day, the police officers arrested two more people. They were caught unexpectedly, so the detainees were unable to dispose of the drugs. Approximately 20 kg of drugs – cannabis and its parts, approximately 1 kg of drugs – cocaine and psychotropic substances – LSD leaflets (“brands”) were found and confiscated in the premises used by the detainees and in the rented apartments. This last substance is particularly dangerous, which can cause hallucinations even half a year after its use.
If the detainee did not open the safe during the search, the police officers had to call on firefighters and rescuers to help them; they broke the apartment safe, which contained psychotropic substances.
The arrested suspects received reports of allegations of illicit possession of large quantities of drugs. Two of them were placed in preventive detention.
The value of the drugs seized in the street trade exceeds 300,000 euros. The Criminal Code of the Republic of Lithuania provides prison sentences of 10 to 15 years for specific offenses. It is estimated that there may be more detainees.
