So far, 12 regional stopovers are planned in Estonia, 15 in Latvia and 11 in Lithuania, but there may be more.

“A project between Kaunas and the Polish border is still being developed, but we will definitely have a stop in Marijampolė on the existing line, we are planning Lentvaris, Vievis and Kaišiadorys between Kaunas and Vilnius,” added I. Degutis.

So far, the preliminary list of regional stops includes Joniškėlis, Kėdainiai, Pasraučiai, Ručiūnai, Jonava, Kaunas Airport, Palemonas, Marijampolė, Kaišiadorys, Vievis and Lentvaris.

“From Kaunas to Vilnius and from Kaunas to the Polish border, special planning is underway and this list is not final yet. We plan to complete the special planning and environmental impact assessment in a period of one and a half years after which we will finally say how these lines will be ”, said a member of the Board of Directors of RB Rail AS.

Regional trains from Panevėžys to Vilnius with 7 stops can be reached in 1 hour. 30 minutes, the flight would depart 8 times a day, from Vilnius to Białystok with 23 stops, in 3 hours. 4 min. (4 times a day), and Kaunas can be reached from Vilnius in 6 minutes with 6 stops. This last train would run 4 times a day.

Rail Baltica is the largest railway infrastructure project in the history of the Baltic countries, which will include the construction of an electrified European gauge railway line connecting Warsaw, Kaunas, Vilnius, Panevėžys, Riga, Tallinn and Pärnu.

The total length of the Rail Baltica railway line in the Baltic States is 870 km: in Lithuania – 392 km, in Latvia – 265 km, in Estonia – 213 km.

The value of the project is approximately 5.8 billion. euros.
