Klaipeda Beach’s experienced rescuers communicate with newcomers. The latter today are learning the subtleties of saving people. The summer season begins on the beaches of the port city next week, so you should hurry up. A professional explains to young people where to start by resurrecting a water-soaked disaster.

35 newcomers are learning the rescue ship. A total of 70 rescuers will work on the beaches of Klaipeda. The audience is diverse, both 18-year-olds and 20-year-olds.

“I chose this job because I really like the sea. I’m not from Klaipeda. From Plungė. As I am a student, now I am doing an internship remotely, this summer near Klaipeda is a wonderful thing here, ”says rescuer Aldas.

More than a hundred people wanted to work as lifeguards. Several times more than in previous summers. The rescue guide believes it is the fault of the quarantine: young people who have not received regular seasonal work look for any opportunity to earn a living. For a month they will receive 500 euros in their hands.

“We have many girls. We will have about 19-20 girls on the beach. No one divides the boys or girls because everyone works at a job, everyone will be taught. And we will train in extreme conditions during work,” says Aleksandras Siakki, the chief of the Klaipeda rescuers.

However, there is no shortage of emergencies during training. And young people respond quickly to a request for help. He runs grabbing a stretcher. True, this is only part of the training. Rescuers who work on beaches for less than the first season say the reality is much sadder.

“The biggest problem is drunk middle-aged men, who generally come from Ukraine or Belarus and just don’t listen to rescuers’ warnings, they are going to swim on the red flag and then we have to work,” says rescuer Rimas.

It is true, although many want to become saviors, not all will overcome the selection. You need to be able to swim well and be physically strong.

“I am physically strong, I have always dreamed of a job like this, so I think it is worth trying and I hope that everything is fine. I hope to learn all the basics, how to save a person, how to transport, have all the skills for that and enjoy the activities, “said rescue worker Monika.

Experienced rescuers say physical endurance is necessary not only to rescue a man who is drowning in panic, but also to rescue such displacements from the disasters caused by the current in the sea.

Newcomers admit that for some, the television series “Salvadores” and the desire to attract the attention of the opposite sex have become an incentive to try this profession.
