1920-1940 The number of members of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania was established by the Law on Elections to the Seimas. The number of members of the Seimas changed taking into account the size of the territory of the Republic of Lithuania at that time.

The exception is the Fourth Seimas, which was elected by indirect election and its membership was reduced to prevent representatives of opposition parties from entering parliament. This Seimas was given only a supporting role, and real power was concentrated in the hands of the President of the Republic of Lithuania.

112 – both members of the Seimas formed the Seimas Constituent (1920-1922).

78 – both members of the Seimas formed the First (1922-1923) and Second (1923-1926) Seimas.

85 – both members of the Seimas formed the Tercer Seimas (1926-1927).

49 – both members of the Seimas formed the Fourth Seimas (1936-1940).

A total of 319 citizens of the Republic of Lithuania held the position of member of the Seimas

1920-1940 The members of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania were 319 Lithuanian citizens of very different teachings and professions: lawyers, clergymen, farmers, teachers, doctors, university professors, professors, diplomats, businessmen and representatives of other professions.

At that time, 308 men and 11 women were members of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania. Men accounted for 96.55 percent. of all the members of the Seimas of that time, and women: 3.45 percent.

The president of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania was 10 people, including 8 men: Vytautas Landsbergis, Algirdas Brazauskas, Česlovas Juršėnas, Artūras Paulauskas, Vydas Gedvilas, Viktoras Muntianas, Arūnas Valinskas, Viktoras Pranckietis and 2 women: Irena Degutien.
