Kaunas “Žalgiris” (5/4) survived another persistent battle in the Euroleague, where at home 78:87 (17:26, 21:19, 20:21, 20:21) landed ahead of Mike James in a defining moment for the CSKA Moscow team (6/3).
Steve Vasturia and Marius Grigonis helped Žalgiris to gain a minimal lead (5: 4), but Darrun Hilliard soon responded with 5 points – 9: 5. The difference between the teams became double digits (30:17) and all attempts by “Žalgiris” to get closer received a response: 40:26. Still, Tornikei Shengeliai was answered by Marius Grigonis with a triple, the legionnaires also contributed, and after Nigel Hayes, he managed to reduce the difference to five – 37:42.
