New indicators appear in places where certain objects are updated or opened. Three meters are being installed on Žirmūnų and Tuskulėnų streets, where the Žirmūnai Triangle modernization project is currently underway.
“During project development, bike lanes and pedestrian sidewalks will be installed, traffic lights will be rebuilt, road users’ safety will be increased and additional traffic control will be introduced; speedometers will record speed and red light violations”
Another fixed infraction recording device will start operating on Pilaitės Ave., where a new commercial building is under construction. This meter will record not only speeding, but also violators in the “A lane” of public transportation.
“Currently all these four meters related to the development of specific objects in the city are being coordinated, contractors and manufacturers will perform calibration, programming, connection to the Administrative Offenses Registry system and other works. Some of the meters are scheduled to start operating this year, ”adds M. Bielinytė.
Additional purchase of rape recording equipment is planned. Before publishing it, the most recent data is evaluated: information on black spots, traffic accidents in the city in 2019 and, in some cases, already in 2020.
The solutions offered in the market are also analyzed. After the analysis, the city will purchase the violation recording devices that best meet the security requirements of the current situation.
The new purchase is expected to be announced at the end of the year. The specific number and location of the damage recording devices will be specified later, the installation itself is planned for next year. The location of speed meters in the city is planned after evaluating several criteria: traffic safety, accident reduction indicators, black spots, cases of KET violations due to speeding, lane A or in the presence of a prohibited traffic light .
Meters can also be provided during complex project development, when other infrastructure is being developed. In addition to stationary damage recording devices, there are tripod speed measuring devices belonging to the police in the city.
