Deputy General Commissioner of Police Arūnas Paulauskas, in the program Delphi Day when asked if things were going well, he assured that so far things were going quite well.

“Movement restrictions from midnight. The police have already started working in this area, under control. Everything is fine so far.

It is true that we are not working at full intensity yet, because we believe that this major movement will begin next weekend, but since midnight we have started a very intensive control of all vehicles that enter the city of Palanga, because we already have information that many hotels are booked. Lithuania will try to get to Palanga, we have been working since midnight and in fact I can already say that more than ten cars turned around and were not allowed to enter Palanga.

We also carried out inspections in other cities, more than fifty places where our officers had installed posts, we verified the validity of the crossings between municipalities. There were really many drivers that we asked to turn around and return to their places of residence, ”says the interlocutor.

According to him, sometimes it may be enough for officials to simply give a detailed answer as to why a person has to cross the boundaries of a municipality.

In each case, our officials find out if there are reasons to cross municipal boundaries, our officials find out completely, even in the absence of documents, drivers are still missing because we have access to records and we can verify if a person has property in the municipality where works and in the same way. and the documents would only speed up that process ”, says the interlocutor.

When asked if congestion is forming, A. Paulauskas assured that he is trying to organize everything so that there is no congestion, and a special program is used to streamline the inspection process.

“We organize the work so that these traffic jams do not form, there are a sufficient number of policemen in those positions. It is also important that the representatives of the Riflemen’s Union help, who helps, so that the inspections are faster ”, says the police representative.

The police urge residents not to leave the municipality of residence unnecessarily, to leave only in important cases and to have supporting documents.

Next weekend, during the Christmas and New Year period, the police will control arrivals and departures at the entrances to municipal centers.

Critics say the new requirements unjustifiably discriminate against small merchants, the movement restrictions imposed are disproportionate and difficult to enforce, and some psychologists have also suggested allowing lonely people to interact in social bubbles.
