There is an increase in air pollution in Klaipeda: it is recommended to limit the time spent outdoors

“At present, air quality measurement stations in the city of Klaipėda (also in almost all of Lithuania) show a very high exceedance of the daily norm for particulate matter. The daily rate of particulate matter in the air is 50 μg / m3, but the concentration of 176.11 μg / m3 is currently recorded at the station on the Šilutė road, and the station in the old town records a concentration of 125, 76 μg / m3, ”says the report.

With a dry and calm climate, air pollution in the city increases and pollutants accumulate in the air from the ground. Part of the pollutants are transferred from other European regions to the south and southeast. Today, the highest concentrations of pollutants are also likely to be found near busy streets, in those parts of the city where road construction and repair is taking place.

In case of increased particulate air pollution, it is not recommended to take children outside, do not open windows indoors, limit the time they spend outdoors, do not engage in active physical activities, stay away from the busy streets of the city and seek medical attention if you are not feeling well.
