The entire faction of the Liberal Movement in the Seimas had to isolate themselves when several liberals were infected with the coronavirus.

According to E. Gentvilas, a colleague from the faction who took the COVID-19 test on Monday received a positive result.

The deputy Romualdas Vaitkus also reported on his illness on his Facebook account.

He wrote that after 10 days of self-isolation, he took the test and got a positive response.

“So we will have to be closed at home and work remotely for another ten days. I feel great, by the way, I had no symptoms,” he wrote.

About half are testing

According to V.Čmilytė-Nielsen, members of the Seimas have the opportunity to take tests every week.

“It is a necessity that the members of the Seimas who come to the Seimas session do not become infected or infect others. At the same time, of course, we are solving the problem of telecommuting, “the head of parliament told reporters at Seimas on Tuesday.

V.Čmilytė-Nielsen explained that he would like more than half of the parliamentarians to be tested for the coronavirus.

“I would like to appeal once again to the members and factions of the Seimas and urge them to carry out tests every week to ensure the safe work of the Seimas,” he said.

Research – negative

Members of Seimas Laurynas Kasčiūnas and E. Gentvilas are among those who attended the plenary session on Tuesday to learn of the coronavirus.

“I did the tests four times, all the answers were negative. I did the last test yesterday morning, it is calm, but I am afraid that I will isolate myself again. As this time, neither of this nor of her”, said a representative of the Movement Liberal.

The fact that only one in two peer tests is negatively evaluated by E. Gentvilas. “It just came to our attention then. “I have done my duty, calm down,” he said.

“Negative”, said L. Kasčiūnas about the results of the COVID-19 test carried out.

According to him, all members of the Seimas should be tested.

“It does not have to become an epidemiological bomb corps. We still have to put up with it until we pass the necessary laws for teleworking, ”he said.

He hopes to support telecommuting

Amendments have been made to the Statute of the Seimas, which provide the possibility for parliamentarians to sit at a distance.

V.Čmilytė-Nielsen said he was confident that the Seimas would support them.

According to her, technical solutions for teleworking should be ready in 3-4 weeks.

“Of course, we do not know the exact date, but by the end of December, the decisions should be in place and we could go to teleworking completely,” said the president of Seimas.

Until then, as V.Čmilytė-Nielsen pointed out, all measures have been planned to ensure the safest possible work for the members of the Seimas.
