Meilutė Sakalauskienė, a resident of the Želva old age, recounted it. The woman said the rally race took place last Saturday.

The route chosen by the organizers includes not only paved roads, but also gravel roads or even easement roads managed with the farmers’ own funds. Dozens of cars brutally fed them.

M. Sakalauskienė said that rally competitions were also held on the roads in his area in previous years. But usually in dry weather. Then it was just dusted off and so on. But now the brokers have caused huge losses and inconvenience.

The woman said she called the general helpline about the incident. The incident has been registered, but they have already explained that the infraction will not be registered, since the section of the road that the runners travel is not private. This is the way anyone can go.

However, it turns out that an investigation can be started on this event.

Jolanta Lukšienė, the elder from Šešuoliai, who replaces the elder from Želva, said that after the weekend’s race, a similar complaint was received from more than one resident regarding the damaged roads.

J.Lukšienė said that he found out about the race on the roads of the elders of Želva and Šešuoliai on the day of the event, last Saturday. He immediately left, trying to stop the cars involved in the race. The driver of one of them stopped and assured that the competition taking place here was official, that all the necessary permits had been obtained.

The elder said that he was hesitant at first, perhaps the permit for the event was actually issued and it was not coordinated with the elder alone. However, it quickly became clear that the race took place both without the necessary permit issued by the municipal administration and without coordinating routes with the elderly.

Darius Varnas, the director of the municipal administration, also assured that no one had requested a car race in our district. These permits are required. Previously, before the quarantine, such requests were received.

Due to the damage to the public roads, the elders of Šešuoliai and Želva decided to contact the police. “We will count how many public roads are damaged, we will communicate with the police, we will try to determine the organizer of this event,” said the major.

According to her, the condition of the roads in the villages is not good. Not all roads are graded and level. Unfortunately, when funds run out, the elderly must take into account how many people use the road. If one is only one and the other is ten, the latter is repaired first.
