According to the Kaunas Fire and Rescue Board, on May 28, at 5.18 pm, a message was received that a car was burning on Šiltnamių Street in the town of Noreikiškės.
Firefighters rushed to the scene after 9 minutes, and a Ford Transit truck caught fire.
The fire was located at 5:32 p.m. and settled at 5:44 p.m. During it, flammable parts of the vehicle were burned and the body was thermally affected.
An investigation into why the car caught fire is currently underway, but this time it focused not on the fire itself, but on the work of firefighters and rescue workers, who caught many Internet users.
A fire witness, passing by at the time, recorded how firefighters simply walked for a few minutes and did not start letting the water go up in flames. He posted his video online. The firefighting operation received several negative comments.
“He went for a walk. It will still burn, so where are you in a hurry? One said ironically.
“Are they playing traps around the fire truck there?” Asked the second.
Internet users speculated if the hose was tangled or if the water was forgotten to pour into the fire station.
“Or maybe you forgot where the crane is spinning?” Another commenter watched the video on the Facebook group “Where are the police in Kaunas.”
Others tried to block firefighters, claiming that the team was to blame, because funding for firefighters was extremely poor. However, the blockers were immediately rejected as they had to check everything before the shift began.
“I would rather fill the buckets when I take them out of the pond,” the review continued.
As firefighters prepared to begin firefighting work, the car’s owner, as you can see in the video, walked with his hands crossed behind his head and couldn’t believe what was happening.
Video with 15 minutes Divided reader Žilvinas assured that, in his opinion, the commentators thickened the colors a bit: the fight did not take place so slowly.
“Still, you should make sure on arrival if it’s safe to turn it off or if there are no explosives inside,” he said.
15 minutes He requested a comment from the Kaunas Fire and Rescue Board. Its spokesman, Džiuginta Vaitkevičienė, explained that the video was already known to firefighters. On June 2, fire rescuers are promised to consider the job of extinguishing Ford Transit.
“The footage is being examined. There will be a board meeting on Tuesday on this topic, due to the activity or inactivity of firefighters in that fire. Filmed footage will be reviewed by management, “said Dž.Vaitkevičienė.
