Residents received reports from the Fire and Rescue Department (PAGD) that stormy weather with thunderstorms, heavy rains, hail and gusts of weather was expected in eastern Lithuania on Tuesday, in the second half of the day. Wind speeds are reported to be as high as 16 to 21 meters per second.

“Take care of your life and property, warn others,” residents are asked.

The entire European continent is divided into two parts: cold and warm, or more precisely, hot. The border between hot and cold weather, the front of the winding atmosphere, passed directly through Lithuania on Monday, making the weather here very uneven. And on Tuesday, the front will move east, the heat will move east. But only temporarily.

On Tuesday, rain clouds will accumulate mainly on the east side of the country. There will be heavy rains here, with thunderstorms and gusts of wind. Hail can cut somewhere. In Samogitia, on the coast, the probability of rain is low. According to the Hydrometeorological Service, there will be brief rains in many places during the day, heavy in some places in the eastern areas and thunderstorms. In hailstorms, splashes – 15–20 m / s.

“In other words, the weather will be stormy. On Tuesday, the rain clouds will grow again, there will be summer rains, many with thunderstorms, strong winds, possible hail. The night is warm: it will cool to 14-16 degrees, during the day it will warm to 22-24, in the east somewhere and 25 degrees, in Samogitia it will be about 18-20 “, – says weather forecaster Naglis Šulija.

For the next two days, the weather will remain similar. In the days it will grow with rain clouds, a lot of rain, many storms, perhaps gusts of wind or hail. At night the clouds will melt, less and less and less and in the morning everything will start again. The nights are very warm, even in the morning it will be from 14 to 16 and 16 to 18 degrees, and during the day the weather warms up to 24 – 26 and 25 to 27 degrees, only on the Baltic coast it will be less warm.

“Well, summer is not a joke: when you park a car under a tree, you have to think about whether it is not shaken,” says N. Šulija.

On Monday, PAGD officers went about 30 times to remove trees that had been knocked down by a strong wind.

According to PRT representative Laura Valauskienė, BNS rescuers had to answer calls in Vilnius and Kaunas counties seven times. Six calls were received in Panevėžys county, five in Utena, two in Marijampolė and Šiauliai, and rescuers were once invited in Alytus county.

According to the PAGD, four reports of fallen trees have been received across the country. A fallen tree in Pakruojis broke the roof of a residential house, and a tree fell dangerously on the house in the Panevėžys district.

In Molėtai district, seven trees fell along the way, and in Šakiai district, in the town of Plųgų, up to 30 trees fell along the way. According to the PAGD representative, all the trees in the Šakiai district had been cut in a stretch of about 50 meters, they were helped by forest rescue workers, people living nearby and ESO employees to remove them from the road, and the work lasted more than two hours.

In addition, a tree was reported to have fallen on a car in Vilnius. Around 9.30 p.m. A lightning strike reportedly caused a fire in a residential house in the city of Viečiūnai, near Druskininkai. Residents put out the fire before firefighters arrived.
