The fact that there is no athlete became apparent when the COVID-19 test had to be retested.
Part of the Uganda Olympic team is located in Izumisano, 500 kilometers from Tokyo, and athletes come to athletes every day to test athletes for coronavirus.
This time it was reported that it is impossible to find a weightlifter anywhere.
The police began a search for the athlete.
“In the city that houses the Ugandan team, the police have started searching for the missing person,” police said in an official statement.
Representatives of the International Olympic Committee have already contacted the Uganoda Olympic Committee to obtain more information about the athlete’s disappearance.
Julius Ssekitoleko is one of nine Ugandan athletes who arrived in Japan last month and began preparations for the Games.
Interestingly, two of the nine athletes were diagnosed with coronavirus.
The Ugandan national team athlete, who disappeared in Japan on Friday, left a note stating that he did not want to return to his homeland and intended to work in Japan. This was reported by the Kyodo news agency.
“I will not go back to a country where it is so difficult to live. I want to work in Japan,” the agency quoted a note in its number. It is also reported that, judging by everything, the 20-year-old weightlifter J.Sekitoleko bought a ticket for the high-speed train “Shinkansen” and went to Nagoya.
The Ugandan team was temporarily stationed in Ijizumana (Osaka Prefecture). City authorities and police continue to search for the missing athlete.
The Ugandan weightlifter, already in Japan, missed qualification and was removed from the list of participants in the Games. July 20 he was supposed to return to his homeland, but on Friday he disappeared from the hotel where the brigade was located.
Previously, two members of the Uganda Olympic team were diagnosed with coronavirus.
This is not the first time that Ugandan athletes have fallen. A member of the country’s rugby team disappeared in Monaco this year, up to six athletes disappeared from the national team during the Commonwealth Games in 2018, athletes disappeared in Glasgow during the same games in 2014, and after a while they were found living in a bedroom in the city.
The Tokyo Summer Olympics would be held from July 24 to August 9, 2020. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the competition was postponed for a year. Now they will take place from July 23 to August 8. Organizers have decided to host the Games without fans from abroad, and local spectators will also not be admitted to Olympic events in six Japanese prefectures, including Tokyo.
