Over the past thirty years, not only various currencies have changed, but also the size of pensions in Lithuania. Retired Valerija assures that her pension has decreased over the years. The amount received is less than the average pension, and no one takes it to recalculate it. However, Sodra advised the woman to contact them again and promised that the pension would be recalculated.

Valerija Kretingiškė (the editorial board knows her real name and surname) said that in 1992 she was assigned a second disability group and was awarded a disability pension.
“I received the highest disability benefit at that time – 120 rubles. Even the accountant who calculated it said that my pension was really good. However, I enjoyed that larger pension in just one month, because the ruble was very quickly replaced by “vagnorkės”. They were later converted into litas and these into euros. Now I don’t even receive an average pension. I currently receive a widow’s and invalidity pension totaling 350 EUR.
Even when I received a pension in litas, I went to Sodra to ask if I really only have as much money as I receive. However, the specialist who accepted me assured me that I should come when I reach retirement age. Then he will review my pension, “said the woman.
Later, after reaching retirement age, Valerija again applied to Sodra and received a double response.
“Two employees welcomed me. One assured that my pension was too low and needed to be recalculated, and another assured that everything was fine, that I was receiving everything I could. I no longer know where to turn. Can anyone recalculate my pension? ? ”The woman asked.
Offer to contact Sodra again
The head of Sodra’s communication department assured that he will not be able to comment on specific situations due to personal data protection requirements.
However, the specialist recommended that the woman contact him by email, phone or write a simple letter to Sodra, where detailed information about her personal pension and how it was calculated would be provided.
“A person who receives a disability pension and has reached retirement age can choose which pension: old age or disability they want to receive. Usually, the larger one is chosen. Only one pension is paid. You cannot get them both. Jarmalis explained.
Old-age pensions have been growing this year
Sodra reports that in 2021 social security pensions will be higher by 9.58 percent. That the last year.
The average old-age pension with required seniority is 440 euros this year (last year it was 399 euros), and the average pension is 415 euros (last year it was 377 euros). The pension of each beneficiary and its growth will be individual, since it will depend on the time of service acquired by the person and the number of pension units. Pensions for seniors will grow more.
Pension supplements are paid to beneficiaries of social security pensions who receive the lowest pensions. The amount of all the pensions received by those who have the required seniority cannot be less than the amount of the minimum consumption needs. Last year it amounted to 257 euros, and in 2021 it will rise to 260 euros.
After indexing pensions, some residents may receive a lower premium. For example, a person with the required seniority had a retirement pension of € 230 last year and it was less than € 257, so they also received a supplement of € 27 for small pensioners.
After indexation, their pension will reach 250 euros in January 2021. Then, in January, the resident will continue to receive a supplement of 27 euros for December, and from February the supplement will reach 10 euros, so the total amount of pensions and benefits will not be less than 260 euros.
Other pension benefits can also lead to a reduction in the premium. For example, if a widow’s pension is granted to a resident, the bonus is reduced or not paid if the person’s income after receiving the widow’s pension exceeds 260 euros. Next year, the basic amount of the widow’s pension will increase to 28.63 euros.
