Representatives of the retail chain report that all the thefts are very similar: they were committed in a jiffy, in less than a minute, and only the most expensive goods were attacked. This time, the loss could reach several tens of thousands of euros. The extent of the damage will be clear after an inventory.

The robbery took place in Panevėžys at night from Wednesday to Thursday, a few minutes before 2 o’clock. According to the footage, the thief was alone, knew exactly where the goods he needed were, and was turned around in less than a minute. Thieves are not afraid and there are a large number of video cameras installed.

Donatas Degenis, sales project manager at the Varlė.lt store in Panevėžys, claims that the thief acted with great determination: only the most expensive goods were stolen: high-end Samsung and Apple devices.

The police officers who arrived no longer found the thief. Although the three robberies are very similar, the investigating experts cannot yet draw the exact conclusions about whether these robberies are related.

We remind you that the first “Varlė.lt” robbery took place in Vilnius in the run-up to Christmas. The thieves broke into the ShowRoom store in Vilnius, 241 Ukmergės Street. During the robbery, smart devices were also deliberately stolen, the value of which amounted to 1,500 – 2,000 euros, and the total loss – about 30 thousand euros.

The second lightning robbery took place last week in Kaunas. After breaking down the front door, the thieves destroyed the stands and also purposely stole the most expensive products – smart devices.

Marius Butauskas, founder of the online shopping center Varlė.lt, affirms that in the entire history of its activity – for more than 10 years – it has not been the case that its stores have been roughly divided three times in three months.

“Additional security measures will have to be taken. The third robbery in just three months is shocking. It is no longer related to the upcoming Valentine’s Day for which someone needed luxurious gifts. This situation is probably more related to the consequences of the pandemic: many migrants who return, many people who are left without work are looking for ways to survive ”, considers M. Butauskas.
