The STT has brought charges against Judge Grig for bribery

Earlier this week, law enforcement officials brought charges against two Kaunas lawyers and an employee of a law firm about bribery of a judge.

Kaunas ‘lawyer, long-time former judge Bronislavas Liatukas, is suspected of having agreed with Kaunas’ lawyer Valda Grigonyte that she, acting together with the employee of the Tautvydas Grigas law firm, would transfer the remuneration illegally. They were charged with bribery of a judge.

On Wednesday, Attorney General Nida Grunskienė asked President Gitana Nausėda for permission to prosecute, arrest or otherwise restrict Judge Griga’s freedom. The president agreed to this request.

According to available data, at least 2,000. The purpose of the bribery was for the judge, in the case of an administrative offense on a person on appeal, to impose a less severe administrative penalty and reduce the revocation period of the driving license from 12 to 3 months.

It was established that the agreed illegal remuneration or a part of it had been handed over to the judge at his workplace, in the Kaunas Chamber of the Kaunas District Court.

It was previously reported that during a raid on the judge’s residence, he attempted to destroy the evidence.

R. Grigas has worked as a district court judge in Kaunas since 1999. He has long specialized in criminal and administrative offenses.
