A government-created working group will terminate the loan agreement with the Vilnius city municipality on the management of Lukiki Square, transferring the Lithuanian population to the Research Center on Genocide and Resistance, says Ramnas Karbauskis, leader of the Culture Committee of the Seimas.
Added: Vilnius Deputy Mayor reads that this is the opinion of R. Karbauskis.
According to him, there is no decision of the working group yet, but he is aware of such a planned proposal.
The working group that the Government formed worked … and from what I understand and to the greatest amount of information possible, the loan contract with the Vilnius city municipality will probably be terminated, and the management of this site will be handed over to the institution, probably the Genocide Center, on Wednesday, said R. Karbauskis.
According to him, the owner of Lukiki Square is the state, and the Vilnius City Municipality took over its management through a loan agreement.
The proposal of the working group, to my knowledge, to cancel the loan contract and end the whole story with the Vilnius city government. That they take care of themselves, that they take care of them, that they collect their garbage, that they collect it, that they really have enough places to improve and expand the culture, but not in Lukiki Square, said the head of State and Union Alliance.
All those events, mothers sand or poop, can be. But the same kind that the Vilnius municipality will have in the summer will not be possible, because the Vilnius municipality will simply not be able to do anything with this square, he added.
The government announced a few weeks later that it had started negotiations with the capital’s municipality to modify the five-year loan contract for Lukiki Square.
September 4 In 2015, a working group led by the Minister of Culture Mindaugas Kvietkauskas and representatives of the municipality discussed issues related to the commemorative status of the site provided for in the Lukiki Square Law, as well as in 2015 to enter into a contract of loan, according to which it is transferred to the municipality.
The Government then referred to the issues discussed at the meeting on the application of the provisions of the law by modifying the loan contract; however, the proposed modification was not detailed.
Vilnius’ chief architect, Mindaugas Pakalnis, assured BNS at the time that the commission did not discuss the possible termination of the contract with representatives of the municipality.
The Minister of Justice, Elvinas Jankeviius, has been appointed Deputy Minister of Justice in the working group, and representatives of the Government Chancellery, the Department of Cultural Heritage, the National Emissions Service, the Genocide Research Center also work there. and Resistance of Lithuania and the Council of Architectural Arts of Lithuania.
The Genoside Research Center will be ready to take over
The Lithuanian Genocide and Resistance Research Center (LGGRTC) will prepare to seize Lukiki Square from Vilnius Municipality, says Adas Jakubauskas, director of the center.
According to him, the center will take over if such consideration is approved by the working group on Thursday.
If this happens and there is a provision in the Lukiki Plaza law regarding the plaza manager, we would be ready to take control of it, says A. Jakubauskas.
It supports the ruling critics of the Vilnius municipality, which currently rules the site, among other things, and notes that the demolition of the artificial land that had been here for several months was seriously damaged.
Additionally, 40 Gediminas Avenue is home to the Genocide High Museum. We were in the square, which, in fact, although it has not yet been added, is very deteriorated: the grease was removed, the commemorative board was broken, a hole was made, a plastic stick was made, the head of the center claimed .
This makes it seem a bit odd when used casually. Now the law, approved on August 1, says that this is the main square of Lithuania, it must be with due respect, its operation must be adequate, she emphasized.
Vilnius deputy mayor: decided by a working group
Vilnius City Deputy Mayor Vytautas Mitalas affirms that statements by state leader R. Karbauskis that the Government is preparing to take over the management of Lukiki Square in the municipality have so far contradicted the opinion of the politician .
According to him, the working group created by Culture Minister M. Kvietkauskas decides how to adjust the loan agreement, which will meet on Thursday.
Fortunately, this is the opinion of Mr. Karbauskis, he alone cannot decide everything in Lithuania. For the talks with the Ministry of Culture and the National Service, we are deciding jointly how to better adjust the Lukikiaikts loan contract, but I have not heard about the termination of the institution, only from Mr. Karbauskis, said BNS V. Mitalas.
He recalled the speeches of R. Karbauskis at the end of June, when the president of the Seimas Cultural Commission threatened to build an artificial pavilion in the square for several months.
Fortunately, these were only his ambitions, which, as we know, were left unfulfilled, and the Vilnius facility in Lukikiaikte and the additional facility could grow as planned until the end of the summer, said V. Mitalas.
