The Seimas will consider whether the Vilnius metro project is of special state importance. There were 26 votes in favor, three abstentions on Thursday, 14 abstentions.

In the fall of 2018, the Seimas approved the Metropolitan Implementation Law and created the conditions for private investors to undertake the construction of the metro. The subway construction regulations came into force at the beginning of the year.
Supporters of the metro say that if they decide to build a metro in Vilnius, it will open a road for investments worth one million euros, and will liberate Vilnius.
However, critics of the metro say that the construction will not bear fruit, that the metro will be used by few people, the construction will damage the heritage.
