The chairman of the Law and Order Committee of the Seimas, Stasys Šedbaras, explained that the president of the CC will only be changed when the Seimas approves the candidate proposed by the president of Parliament.
“The president of the CC will not change. Because the procedure is the one offered by the official, the CC judge goes to the place previously proposed or designated (judge, aut. P.) and goes”, – Delphi said the MP on Friday.
On Thursday, two judges appointed by Seimas: Giedrė Lastauskienė and Algis Norkūnas will take the places of former judges Gediminas Mesonis and Vytas Milius.

A. Kabišaitis was nominated for the CC by the president of the Seimas Viktorija Čmilytė – Nieslen, G. Lastauskienė – president Gitanas Nausėda, LAT Judge A. Norkūnas – interim president of the SCL Sigita Rudėnaitė.
S. Shedbar predicted that this problem could be resolved before mid-March, when the spring session of the Seimas will begin.

When asked what he did not like about the candidacy of A. Kabišaitis, the MP once again expressed the doubts raised by the members of the Seimas.
“Formally, A. Kabišaitis meets the criteria. I am not speaking here in my own words, but once Mr. Žalimas himself has written that the level of the CC falls every quarter. I understand that not all judges are professors, doctors, that is difficult to expect, but there are also cases like that. It is still a question of choosing whether people know the executive, the legislature. (…) Somehow that level was higher ”, S. Shedbar mentioned possible arguments.
No one got support last year
The Constitution provides that the Constitutional Court is renewed every three years for one third. The court consists of nine judges appointed for nine years and for one term only.
