In the Jonava district, the search for a boy who drowned in Nery continues for the third day.

“I feel bad about how my eighteen-year-old son can feel,” says the boy’s mother.

It was reported on Thursday night that the fast-flowing river in Rukla city had sunk for eighteen years. Around 7 p.m. Divers and firefighters, the boy’s relatives and a crowd who knew him rushed to the scene of the disaster.

“The younger lady tried to rescue him, turned around and saw that he was no longer there. He ran out of air, it was difficult. “He was looking for a long time, a long time until night,” said the boy who knew the young man.

It turns out that the young man came to a secluded spot with his friends after a hot day. In the evening they decided to cool off in the river. Then there was the disaster. A teenager was still trying to pull a drowned guy, but to no avail.

“She was bathing and a current of encore took her further, the girl invited a friend.” He had already lost his breath, he tried to escape with that girl, but he also started to pull her and release her hand and everything, “says the 18-year-old mother.

“When there was a vortex, he got involved, he thought maybe himself, but maybe ten minutes passed and he didn’t come out.”

“It is terrifying, the currents, it is better not to go there, but it is not clear how they went there.”

Locals are shocked. The guy was a young marksman, helpful, especially helpful during quarantine.

“When the social services center needed help during the quarantine, he and another girl from the shooters also helped people who couldn’t go to the store to buy products; they responded to the call for help very quickly,” says the old man from Rukla Vilma Akvilė Karoblienė.

The divers sought drowning until dusk on the night of the disaster.

“Thursday late at night and Friday until two o’clock. We swam downstream and upriver and looked at the shorelines,” says firefighter Antanas Mikulskis.

On a good Friday afternoon, rescuers explored some 15 kilometers of the Neris stretch from Rukla.

“From the place where he could have drowned, it is clear that we swam a little more and sailed towards the central Jonava bridge,” adds Artūras Rescue Artūras Kontenis.

The search for the sunken 18-year-old continued on Saturday. His body is still missing, they will search for him until it gets dark.
