“The militia of the capital urges their compatriots not to give in to provocations and to keep their minds,” said the account of the Interior Board of the Executive Committee of the city of Minsk on the social network Telegram. At the same time, it is requested that violations be reported immediately.

For the sixth month in a row, Belarus has been plagued by massive protests over the August 9 presidential elections, which have been declared the winners by authoritarian leader Lukashenko, who has ruled the country since 1994.

The opposition and Western democracies claim that these elections were rigged. The opposition views her victory as political rookie Sviatlan Cichanouskaya, who replaced her imprisoned husband in the fight for the presidency.

The protesters are demanding the resignation of Lukashenko, the release of political prisoners and new elections.
