Following today’s searches and other mandatory procedural steps in a pre-trial investigation into alleged trafficking, bribery, abuse and bribery, three suspects, who are private individuals, were sentenced to non-custodial pretrial detention for a decision not to abandon and confiscate documents.

Eight other suspects are currently under arrest. To date, the Prosecutor of the Organized Crime and Corruption Investigation Department of the Office of the Attorney General has filed requests in court for the stricter arrest warrant: arrest, suspected prosecutors Nerijus Marcinkevičius and Donatas Puzinas, the investigator of FNTT Nerijus Valatka and lawyer Šarūnas Mickevi. Court hearings are scheduled for Thursday, May 14.

Regarding other people, no decisions have yet been made on the measure of preventive detention.

As previously reported, the pre-trial investigation began after receiving information that prosecutors Nerijus Marcinkevičius and Ugnius Vyčinas from the Criminal Prosecution Department of the Attorney General’s Office, the chief investigator for the Nerijus Valatka division, acting independently of each other , meets informally with Kaunas-based lawyer Šarūnas Mickevičius, and discusses the course of pre-trial financial and economic investigations, undisclosed data and possibilities for procedural decisions in which this lawyer’s private representatives are represented unofficially.

It is possible that in some cases material or other benefits were sought.

By order of Attorney General Evaldas Pašilis, the three prosecutors are removed from office today, and appropriate official inspections and other internal procedures begin.

The pre-trial investigation into alleged trafficking, bribery, abuse and bribery is conducted by the Organized Crime and Corruption Investigation Department of the Office of the Attorney General and the Special Investigation Service.
