J. Baranova 1978 Graduated from Vilnius University with a degree in psychology and philosophy. 1986 defended his doctoral thesis in humanities “The pragmatic concept of the truth of William James”.
1991-2003 was Associate Professor in the Department of Philosophy, Lithuanian University of Educational Sciences, 2003-2017. – Professor at the Lithuanian University of Educational Sciences, since 2017. – Professor at the Faculty of Philosophy of Vilnius University. He taught moral philosophy, philosophical anthropology, postmodern philosophy. Associate philosophy with intellectual therapy.
He wrote about the intersections of philosophy and art. He has published articles in cultural magazines “Kultūros barai”, “Dailė”, “Metai”, “Naujoji Romuva”, cultural weekly “Literatūra ir menas”, “Šiaurės Athens”, “Nemunas”. He has published articles in the publications “Science and Life”, “Gimtasis žodis”, “Prie Nemunėlis”. He read his essays on the LRT radio show “Culture Week”. Actively participated in the international literature forum “Northern Summer” in Jurbarkas, “Literary Winter” events in Panevėžys. Member of the editorial board of the magazines Problems, History, Athena.
2004 published the monograph “Moral Philosophy of the 20th century: a conversation with Kant”. 2007 On the basis of this work, his professorship was approved during the habilitation procedure at the Faculty of Philosophy of Vilnius University. 2006 published a monograph “Philosophy and Literature: Contradictions, Parallels, Intersections”. 2007 – “Nietzsche and postmodernity”.
He has published two books on essays: Meditations: texts and images and Fear of drowning.
J.Baranova was one of the implementers of philosophical didactics in Lithuanian secondary and higher schools. 1995 CEU published a teaching tool “Political Philosophy” based on his studies in Prague.
2000 J.Baranova received the first prize in the textbook competition of the Lithuanian Ministry of Education and Science for the textbook for schools “Chrestomaty of Philosophical Ethics in Grades XI-XII”. 2004 received the first prize of the higher education textbook competition of the Ministry of Education and Science for the textbook for higher education institutions “Philosophy of history”.
Since 2014 he was a member of the Lithuanian Writers Union. Literary nickname – Ana Audicka.
