“I am granting urgent approval for the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine,” wrote Denise Hinton, chief scientist at the US Food and Drug Administration, in a letter to the CEO of Pfizer.
Donald Trump soon posted a video on his Twitter account thanking him for the approval.
“The first person will be vaccinated in less than 24 hours,” he said in a statement posted on Twitter.
“In partnership with FedEx and UPS, we have already begun supplying vaccines to all states,” the president said, emphasizing that governors will have to decide who will be vaccinated first in their states.
The United States is the sixth country to adopt a two-dose vaccine after the United Kingdom (United Kingdom), Bahrain, Canada, Saudi Arabia and Mexico.
