The peasants seek to remove S. Gentvil from the minister, find a new argument for the interpellation

The liberal S. Gentvilas has to explain himself again, this time about the concrete stairs that collapsed in the hut that was being built for his family in Melnrage, which injured two workers.

It is possible that they were working illegally on the premises of the Ministry of the Environment. The State Labor Inspectorate is now investigating who hired the workers and whether they could do the job.

S. Gentvilas himself assures that everything was done with contracts, the services were paid through the bank, the collapsed stairs were of poor quality and he requested an expert opinion of the works.

But as a result, the politician had to move away last week from the supervision of the State Inspectorate for Spatial Planning and Construction of the Ministry of the Environment, which is investigating the incident.

This has become a new argument for the interpellation threatened by the shadow government led by the peasant leader Ramūnas Karbauskis since February.

Rapporteur status did not help

Previously, the peasants were preparing to translate S. Gentvilas from the position due to the conflict between him and the director of the Department of Environmental Protection O.Vėbrienė.

It erupted when, at the end of last year, O.Vėbrienė removed Donatas Bagočiai, an environmentalist who had provided information to the Minister about the oil spills in Būtingė.

He is accused of revealing official information to third parties.

Shortly afterwards, O.Vėbrienė announced that she had applied to the Prosecutor’s Office and received rapporteur status due to the alleged misconduct of the Minister. He had to protect the officer from pardon and other penalties, but the plan failed.

A week ago, the Ministry of the Environment announced that O.Vėbrienė was being fired from a position that she may have obtained fraudulently, as she had provided incorrect information about her managerial experience.

The enthusiasm is not noticeable

Politicians do not agree on whether the minister could fire a subordinate who had the special status of rapporteur, but O. Vėbrienė, close to the peasants, still has no support in the Seimas.

Even the partners of the peasant coalition in the opposition – the Labor Party faction – explain that they will not support the interpellation of S. Gentvilas if he were transferred from the position of minister only because of friction with O. Vėbriene.

According to the vice president of Seimas Andrius Mazuronis, the absolute majority of the “workers” in this conflict support S. Gentvilas: “We certainly will not help the peasants to defend their personnel.

In politics, they try to involve the defense of their friends and cronies. Let’s protect our friends ourselves and don’t invite ourselves to do so. “

Darbietis claimed that the peasants defended O. Vėbrienė only because he was assistant to the current European Commissioner Virginijus Sinkevičius in the Seimas and Chancellor in the Ministry of Economy and Innovation that he headed.

Algirdas Sysas, the leader of the Social Democratic faction in the Seimas, also believes that this conflict should be resolved outside the Seimas: “It is not clear how O. Vėbrienė could have become the head of the department, but these matters must be decided by a court. “.

Spoke with innuendo

However, the peasants who demand the head of S. Gentvil keep theirs.

The Shadow Minister for the Environment, Ligita Girskienė, assured Lietuvos Rytas that the text of the interpellation is already being prepared even with a new impetus: “After the disaster, more very interesting things became evident at the construction site owned of the minister “.

It is true that L. Girskienė did not want to specify what was clear, and only spoke with hints about the hidden relations of S. Gentvilas: “The minister cannot occupy these positions simply because he has certain interests in many areas and has to resign because of they.”

In addition, the farmer explained that an investigation was being carried out: “There are materials that S. Gentvilas is building a house with a person who is related to his wife’s companies. But I certainly won’t reveal what’s wrong here right now.

There will be time and everything will be clear. “

The politician feels victim

S. Gentvilas pointed out that representatives of the opposition like to do the work of law enforcement and other institutions, but they were not elected to the Seimas.

The Minister reiterated that his possible interests have been declared in accordance with the provisions of the law: “My wife together with our friend Algirdas Sabaliauskas are shareholders of a company (Baltic Institute of Technology. – Ed.) And we are building together a two-apartment house .

I have no idea where there is any conflict here. The activities of this company are not related in any way to my work activities.

Let L. Girskienė slander, but I don’t see any reason why he should explain it. “

According to the minister, the accident during the construction of the house was caused by a defect in the work of the builders, for which an attempt is currently being made to accuse him.

He rejected the attempt to convince

By the way, S. Gentvilas denied the deliberations heard in the Seimas, as if trying to appease the peasants who threatened him with interpellations.

Following the minister’s proposal, the Seimas last week approved amendments to the law after its presentation, which aim to free owners of illegal water wells from liability.

The former opposition in the Seimas of the last legislature, including S. Gentvilas, criticized the proposals of the peasants in favor of the farmers who had received sanctions for illegal wells.

But the minister now denied that he was specifically trying to convince the peasants: “For me, the peasants have no complaints about work. Angry only at the firing of a person close to them. But I make amendments for the order.

The task of the state should not be to punish, but to help people to recover and legalize the old illegal wells. “

The current regime foresees huge fines of hundreds of thousands of euros for illegally used wells.

The fined farmers pressured former peasants to change the order, but those ambitions have still stalled in the Seimas.
