The Speaker of the Seimas, after consulting the factions, proposes the candidates for Vice Presidents in such a way that at least two representatives of the opposition of the Seimas are their alternates.
On Friday, during the first session of the new parliament, conservatives Jurgis Razma and “employee” Andrius Mazuronis were confirmed as vice presidents. Conservatives Paulius Saudargas, Radvilė Morkūnaitė-Mikulėnienė and Freedom Party representative Vytautas Mitalas were also appointed to this post on Tuesday.
The peasants who were left without their representative in the leadership of the Seimas promise to appear before the Constitutional Court because a large political group is in a worse situation than a small group.
Among the opposition factions, the Lithuanian Union of Greens and Peasants has 32 representatives in the parliament, the Social Democratic Party (12) and the Labor Party (10).
