The “peasant” faction collapsed in the municipality of the city of Panevėžys: the accusations against R. Račkauskas and LVŽS run

On Thursday, Lauras Jagminas, a former “peasant” and advisor to the mayor of the city of Panevėžys, Rytis Račkauskas, was elected deputy mayor of Panevėžys.

These changes in the Panevėžys City Council were accompanied by changes in the factions. Both L. Jagminas, who has just joined the council, and Rimantas Narkūnas, another member of the former LVŽS faction, did not want to remain in the “peasant” faction established after the municipal elections.

According to L. Jagmin, a former member of the “peasants” party, the fate of the LVŽS faction, which consisted of 3 members, was determined by the divergent views of the members of the faction and the “peasants” party. According to the politician, after D. Labanavičius left for the Seimas, an extraordinary situation arose in the LVŽS faction: no member of the faction belonged to the party. After all, he himself left the “peasants” party before the last Seimas elections, and other members of the faction, Rimantas Narkūnas and Kęstutis Lukoševičius, were no longer partisan.

The politician made no secret that, after finishing fourth on the list of municipal elections and without a mandate, he decided to join the LVŽS when he was promised the post of deputy mayor of the “peasant” faction.

However, L. Jagmin continued, realizing during the year that he would not be able to work constructively in the party, he resigned from the party.

“Before I joined the council, I was offered a position of political trust: to become an advisor to the mayor. But whenever I join the party. I joined the party, but when I joined I lacked constructive work and when I saw that in the run-up to the Seimas elections, young people are not really needed here (this is my personal opinion), I decided to run in person without parties ” said the politician.

After D. Labanavičius changed his job in the municipality of the city of Panevėžys to a term in the Seimas and thus allowed L. Jagmin to come to the City Council, the latter continued, it was necessary to assess the changing conditions in the composition of the faction LVŽS.

“The decision was based on the fact that we and Rimantas Narkūnas were the last to start a meeting with the LVŽS faction. We sought to discuss how we continue to imagine the work when, after Labanavičius left the Seimas, there were no more“ peasants ” in the faction of “peasants.” We only said that we have to sit down and discuss: here we are in three, we have to democratically elect the president of the group and the candidate for deputy mayor, “said the politician, recalling that the position of deputy mayor belonged to to the LVŽS faction under the coalition agreement.

“It just came to our notice then. We came with the list of LVŽS, so we offered to stay in the” peasant “faction. But they (the” peasant party – ELTA) left us a candidate, saying that Kęstutis Lukoševičius would be the vice mayor. So here there are two different approaches, ”said L. Jagmin, assuring that he really did not want to dismantle the LVŽS faction and that he did not really do it to occupy higher positions.

“We were not determined to destroy everything …” It is certainly not the case, as Mr. Kęstutis Lukoševičius and Deividas Labanavičius say, that Jagmin has stubbornly held the position of deputy mayor, “he said.

When the politicians who spoke about the changes failed to reach an agreement with the representatives of Panevėžys LVŽS, during the Panevėžys Council meeting on Thursday, R. Narkūnas announced that a new “Joint Faction” had been formed, of which Vitalija Vasiliauskaitė and L. Jagminas

After creating a new faction, K. Lukoševičius, who was nominated by the chairman of the Panevėžys LVŽS branch for the post of deputy mayor, had to declare that the “peasant” faction no longer existed. K. Lukoševičius, who is not a member of any party, made no secret of his disappointment at the disintegration of the LVŽS faction, which was in the ruling majority and held the post of deputy mayor under the coalition agreement. The politician did not rule out the possibility that the mayor of the city R. Račkauskas had also contributed to this.

“The buds of the result that now exist have been designed since the summer. I think it is not without first talking to the city leaders, “K. Lukoševičius told Eltai.

At the same time, he emphasized that even though the former LVŽS faction could not boast of politicians belonging to the party, the commitment to the political force that raised them must be felt.

“Jagmin was a member of the party, but resigned before the Seimas elections. I was not a member of the party and Rimantas Narkūnas was not a member of the party, but we received posts precisely because of the party. We all took advantage of the LVŽS wave and won three places in the Panevėžys City Council ”, he said.

“Personal ambitions probably destroyed a faction,” added the municipal politician.
