According to the municipal account, at noon on Thursday, the police received a message from the Volunteer Line that a woman waiting near the entrance to Ukmergė was asking for a pillow. Officials Svetlana Liaudanskienė and Marius Aleknavičius rushed to their aid.

“The main patrols S. Liaudanskienė and M. Aleknavičius arrived at the right place. After talking to the woman, she learned that she lives with a friend on only one farm, the Pivonia Eldership. The path to the unique farm is swollen. The woman said she did not have a cell phone, so she could not ask for help. That the woman was telling the truth was also told by her footprints in the snow. Unable to pass, the patrols clung to the house in the depths, ”the record says.

As it turned out, the house on a single farm has long burned, and the couple is housed in a pantry where they are heated with a stove.

“It is not clear what it uses as fuel, because no firewood was seen and the snow around it was blackened,” the official said.

The 71-year-old woman explained to officials that she and her 63-year-old friend came to her home from Vilnius in March, before the quarantine.

The couple has no telephone connection, lives without electricity. Help was needed for the man who ran out of medicine.

“The man is sick, he ran out of medicine, the road to the farm is swollen, so he couldn’t ask for help. The patrols reported the situation of these two people to the district social service, the nursing home. Care was taken to clear the way to the farm. Then he called the ambulance squad. The doctors examined the man, gave him medicine, but did not take him to the hospital, ”the municipality said.

“It took us four hours to provide social assistance, but we were calm because we had done everything,” said officer S. Liaudanskienė, who expressed hope that the old man would take over the care of these people.
