The Council’s draft decision establishes that Mr. Labanavičius will be removed from the post of deputy mayor of the municipality of the city of Panevėžys with retroactive effect, from 12 November.

After all, the deputy mayor of the western Panevėžys constituency was elected a member of the Seimas in October and is already working there.

According to the Constitution, the duties of a member of the Seimas are not compatible with any other, so the “peasant” D. Labanavičius has already resigned the mandate of a member of the Panevėžys City Council.

A new deputy mayor is scheduled to be elected on Thursday.

The mayor of the city, Rytis Račkauskas, appoints another representative of the Lithuanian Peasants and Greens Union, L. Jagminas, to this position.

According to the project, L. Jagminas would assume the position of deputy mayor as of Friday, November 27.

L. Jagminas, 37, has a degree in economics and financial banking from Vytautas Magnus University, worked as director of the Stock Market section of SEB bankas and recently served as advisor to the mayor of Panevėžys.
