Upon completion of the surface sewage reconstruction works at the intersection of Verkių and Kareivių streets, the works will move to Verkių street. During the reconstruction of the rainwater collector, from February 22 to March 31, temporary traffic restrictions will take effect on the section of Verkių Street between Kareivių and Lakūnų Streets.

From Monday Verkių st. on the stretch, in the direction of traffic movement from Lakūnų str. towards Kareivių st., a traffic lane will be left, from which (within the intersection of Verkių and Kareivių st.) drivers will be able to drive on Verkių st. straight ahead or turn right towards Žirmūnų and Kareivių st. intersections. Turn left onto Kareivių ir Kalvarijų st. Intersections will be abolished.

In the Verkių st. At a depth of 6 to 7 m, the existing physically and morally obsolete 800 mm diameter reinforced concrete rain collector is being dismantled and replaced with a new 1600 mm diameter fiberglass collector. The works are carried out in extremely difficult conditions: by means of open-pit excavation, in the area of high concentration of existing communications. In addition, the work is difficult due to the instability of the soil, so a sliding wall will be installed to stabilize the slopes of the trench. The works are also complicated by the fact that it will not be possible to stop Verkių st. the existing sewerage flow, so the reconstruction of said network will be carried out on the existing route.

Reconstruction of the main surface sewage network Verkių str. It is part of the stormwater reconstruction project for Verkių, Kareivių and Žirmūnų streets, which is very important to the city. The project will solve two sensitive problems on Verkių and Kareivių streets and the surrounding areas: rain flooding and surface rainwater treatment.

The reconstruction of rainwater from Verkių, Kareivių and Žirmūnų streets is part of the regionally important project “Management of surface sewage systems in Vilnius”, financed by the cohesion funds of the EU, the Municipality of Vilnius and Grinda . Its implementation is managed by the Environmental Project Management Agency of the Ministry of the Environment.
