As this deadline approaches, the institutions will complete their preparations for the start of payments.

Benefits: already this week

These lump sums, like the usual ‘children’s money’, are paid by municipalities that have received funds from the Department of Social Services.

Ministry of Social Security and Labor 15 minutes He reported that the department subordinate to him will transfer the money to the municipalities and this Thursday, July 23, a total of 77 million. euros

The benefits will begin to reach the population (…) from July 24.

Most of this money will go to the larger municipalities because most of the people live there. Vilnius will receive 16 million. EUR, Kaunas – 7.8 million. EUR, Klaipeda – 4.32 million. euros

After receiving the money, the municipalities promise to start making payments to families as soon as possible, and part of the population will receive benefits as soon as Friday.

“The benefits will begin to reach the population the next day after receiving funds from the Ministry of Social Security and Labor, that is, from July 24. Post offices will also start paying from July 24.” 15 minutes said Neringa Kolkaitė, a spokeswoman for the Vilnius city municipality.

Silvija Mockuvienė, representative of the municipality of the city of Klaipėda 15 minutes He said that it may take a day or two to prepare the disbursement of money to the population once the funds are received.

Also, since the total amount paid will exceed the account’s daily transfer limit, one-time payments to Klaipeda residents will be paid within two days.

“If the money allocated for benefits is transferred to the municipality on (…) July 23, residents of Klaipėda should receive the benefits during the last week of July,” said S. Mockuvienė.

The benefit will be paid until the end of July to families to whom the child’s money has already been paid so far.

It is true that the right to that benefit is linked not only to your grant to date, but also to your right. This means that the benefit will be available to all children who will be entitled to it this year, including those born in late 2020, but it is natural that support will reach these families later.

Hopes to encourage consumption.

Like regular children’s money, families at social risk will be able to receive the lump sum not only in cash, but also in various other ways, such as paying for kindergarten or attending clubs, buying food, clothing and shoes.

The municipal councils determine the ways in which these families pay the children’s money, taking into account the individual recommendations of the social workers who work with the families.

It was decided to pay a benefit of € 120 or € 200, taking into account that the situation and well-being of families with children are particularly sensitive to income fluctuations, some of which were caused by the coronavirus crisis.

These benefits are intended to stimulate consumption and improve the expectations of the population.

Critics say the distribution of benefits from government loans will simply be “gobbled up” and will have no effect on future economic growth.

Economists who backed the proposal say that in times of crisis, long-term investment in economic growth and short-term measures must be combined to help the economy recover from the shock.
