The old parliament will no longer have the old Kirkilas, Bernatonis, Šiaulienė

The first parliamentary elections of the Lithuanian Social Democratic Labor Party (LSDDP), which split from the Social Democrats, were unsuccessful: the party failed to overcome the electoral barrier and its leaders suffered defeats in single-member districts.

LSDDP President G. Kirkilas has been elected to the Seimas since 1992 without interruption. He always became a member of parliament according to the party’s list.

This time, the politician who ran for the single-member Fabijoniškės did not enter the second round of the elections.

I. Šiaulienė is also finishing the seventh term in the Seimas. This year, he ran for parliamentary mandate in the Baltic constituency of Klaipėda and came ninth out of twelve candidates.

Since 1992, J. Bernaton, who was elected to the Seimas with a hiatus in 2008-2012, has also failed to achieve his seventh term. In Vilnius, Justiniškės-Viršuliškės district, he fell far short of entering the second round.

There will be no other elder in the Seimas: Rimantas Jonas Dagis. His Christian union, founded this year, did not raise even 1 percent. RJ Dagys himself, according to preliminary data, did not win the right to compete for the term of a Seimas member in the second round in the Šilainiai constituency.

After four terms, the former “ordained” Ona Valiukevičiūtė will leave Parliament, this time with the LSDDP.

The Seimas will no longer count on Naglis Puteikis, the leader of the Center-Nationalist Party, which has had a four-term legislature.

The new parliament is due to hold its first session in mid-November.

Left behind the board: parties that did not have multiple members

In the first round of the Seimas elections, a total of 17 parties and coalitions fought for mandates in the multinominal constituency. According to data from Monday morning, 5 parties enter the Seimas, the others remain behind the line. A total of 70 seats in the Seimas will be distributed in the multi-member.
