As previously reported, people who receive information that they are infected with coronavirus, i.e. a positive PCR test (nasopharynx swab), should immediately isolate themselves and inform those with whom they have recently been exposed of the potential risk.
A total of 800 people have yet to be contacted.
The NVSC notes that this decision is based on the fact that despite the assistance provided, the workload is excessive and that the investigation of cases that have not been completed since the beginning of the week delays and delays the examination of previously confirmed people.
According to epidemiologists, given the current situation, the available resources and the real possibilities, it is more appropriate to carry out an epidemiological diagnosis of newly confirmed people at this time. This is because the chain of transmission of these cases can still be managed by identifying and isolating exposed persons in a timely manner. Late epidemiological diagnosis also determines the subsequent application of the isolation, so the spread of the infection cannot be controlled. Therefore, it is important to prioritize recently cleared cases.
NVSC also recalls the innovation in informing those who have been in contact: people who have had high-risk contact will no longer receive calls from specialists. Instead, you will receive a short SMS message over the phone telling you when the person should be isolated, as well as information about the possibility of shortening the isolation.
In the SMS, people who have been exposed to high risk will also find a link to the questionnaire, which they will complete and provide important data to professionals. For their part, the person must indicate in the questionnaire if they are obliged to be unable to work during the period of isolation, if they agree to be tested for COVID-19 and if they have the appropriate conditions for isolation.
It is also planned to facilitate the conduct of the case survey. A questionnaire will be posted on the NVSC website soon, where people with confirmed COVID-19 disease can provide information to NVSC specialists.
NVSC reports that a total of 13,823 COVID-19 cases have been confirmed in Lithuania, 8,918 people are still ill and 4,691 have recovered.
