The new official cars will soon be on the roads: vehicles will be evaluated more closely and more frequently

“The decision to renew the car fleet was due to several reasons. The first is the expensive operation of old cars. The second and most important is mobility. Usually our officers stand in parking lots, wait for the car to arrive, and stop to check. When one of them pulls up, drivers quickly share information about where LTSA officers are.

Now we will patrol more and observe road users more closely: driving close will provide better visual visibility of the car, easier identification of driver behavior, so we will be more flexible and get to the scene faster, ”he says LTSA Deputy Director Tom Kolendo.

According to him, the renovation was also necessary due to the progress of modern technologies, in order to focus the work of the officials more on specific inspections when evaluating the information received remotely.

New LTSA cars:

  • There are smaller ones;
  • The rear panels are installed to inform the stopped vehicles that they are stopped for inspection and that they will be escorted to a safe place for inspection;
  • They are safer and more visible: warning beacons are installed not only at the rear of the car, but also at the front, and drivers will be alerted to the verification by a multi-tone siren and speaker.

Inside each car, there is a stationary work station for an officer, shelves with the necessary equipment for the inspection: scales, leveling mats, measuring instruments and other equipment necessary for a thorough inspection of the vehicle. Both the officer’s workplace and the car will be filmed with three different cameras designed to ensure officer safety and capture possible violations.

If the vehicle inspection stops during the dark hours of the day, special lights on the sides of the LTSA car will illuminate the workplace outside, making it not only safer, but also of better quality to inspect the vehicle.

An additional innovation will soon be introduced: state-of-the-art equipment capable of remotely scanning the vehicle’s tachograph data. It is expected that already in December, LTSA will have the opportunity to test this equipment in real conditions. This will make the job even easier, as officials will be able to assess the driver’s driving and rest modes and the operation of the tachograph without stopping the vehicle.

A new LTSA car design concept is the work of Dominykas Budinas. According to him, when creating a new car design, they wanted to better reflect the current Lithuanian transport security administration: innovative, dynamic, more visible. This is achieved through the predominant graphic elements in the cars: the blue tones symbolize the road and the black reflectors create a feeling of stability and security. These design elements not only complement each other, but also create a professional and transparent identity.

The cars were purchased through public procurement. LTSA bought them from UAB Autoviči. The price of an installed car is 46,585 euros with VAT.
