The new majority remembers the displaced “peasants”: the stick has two ends

[ad_1]

In the last four years, after being criticized by conservatives and liberals for ignoring the rights of the opposition, minority representatives of the “peasants” managed to express their desire for more respectful and free relations with the ruling majority in the first days of the newly elected Seimas.

The fact that Aušrinė Norkienė, appointed by the “peasants”, was not appointed vice president of the Seimas and the LVŽS faction, after several days of discussions and suggestions to find another candidate. A. Norkienė, who received no support. According to the “peasants” who moved into the opposition camp after the Seimas elections, the rulers cannot specify which personnel will be assigned to their posts in the Seimas.

However, Eugenijus Gentvilas, representative of the ruling Liberal Movement, seems to remember: the stick has two extremes. According to him, not long ago Ramūnas Karbauskis himself indicated to the Liberal Movement which surnames for one or another position in the Seimas are inappropriate. Finally, according to him, the fact that currently the largest opposition force does not have a representative on the Seimas Board is only to blame for R. Karbauskis and his stubbornness.

“It seems strange that most want to indicate what we should contribute. We really respect the opposition and never question their candidates. If they offered a respectable Degutienė 4 years ago (to the Vice Presidents of the Seimas – ELTA), we do not specify what it should offer. Therefore, we believe that also in this case we should be treated appropriately ”, A. Norkienė did not hide from the actions of the new ruling majority in the formation of the Seimas leadership for LRT radio.

ELTA recalls that on Tuesday the Seimas did not approve the candidacy of A. Norkienė, proposed by the “peasants” for vice-presidents of parliament. Immediately after the vote, the eldest of the Lithuanian Green and Peasant Union faction, R. Karbauskis, declared that the “peasants” would not propose a new candidacy for the vice-presidents of the Seimas.

However, as he told reporters in the Seimas on Tuesday, the LVŽS, after a conversation with the president of the Seimas, decided to nominate a new candidate for the vice presidents of the Seimas: Member of Parliament Jonas Jarutis. However, Viktorija Čmilytė – Nielsen did not provide it. Julius Sabatauskas, a representative of the Social Democrats, was appointed and elected vice president. Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen, the president of the Seimas elected last week, had expressed doubts about A. Norkienė’s candidacy for vice-presidents of the Seimas proposed by the “peasants” even before the vote.

In response to the complaints expressed by the “peasant”, E. Gentvilas emphasized that he had nothing against A. Norkienė personally. As the politician told LRT Radio, he voted in a secret ballot for the candidacy of A. Norkien for Vice Presidents of the Seimas. According to the liberal, it is not so much the staff of A. Norkienė that is to blame for the stubborn situation in the Seimas, but the stubbornness of the leader of the “peasants” R. Karbauskis.

“I would say that Ramūnas Karbauskis wrote a political sentence for Aušrinė Norkienė and the entire peasant faction,” he told LRT radio.

“When he said for five days that he would have (provided the Vice Presidents of the Seimas – ELTA) Norkienė and nothing else. Therefore, it is necessary to look at the Statute of the Seimas. The Statute states that the President of the Seimas, in consultation with the factions, decides on the proposed candidate When Karbauskis puts Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen in a corner and says that there will be Norkienė and that he will not offer anything else, the Seimas Speaker ‘legal right to participate in discussions and consult with the faction is deprived. Karbauskis did not allow any consultation ”, explained E. Gentvilas.

“Thank Karbauskis for his frank run through the open door,” the politician emphasized.

The stick has two extremes: E. Gentvilas recalls how the “peasants” treated the opposition

Finally, E. Gentvilas also reacted to the indignation emphasized by the “peasant” A. Norkienė and repeatedly declared by the leaders of the party she represents, that the rulers are instructing the opposition on what they should appoint to one or another position in the parliament. According to the Liberal, the “peasants”, insisting that the new rulers do not question one or the other candidate for positions in the Seimas, must first remember their recent actions from government positions.

“When Aušrinė Norkienė says they never did that, I will remind you of two cases. Our faction appointed Aušrinė Armonaitė as vice-presidents of the Seimas last term, but Karbauskis said that two people from his faction (Liberal Movement – ELTA) would never be blessed in the coalition ruler: Aušrinė Armonaitė and Eugenijus Gentvilas. Then the rulers themselves propose and bring the name of Jonas Liesys, and Jonas Liesys becomes the vice-president of the Seimas. That’s all, we are swallowing that pill, “recalled Gentville, citing another case which showed that the “peasants” were now complaining about actions that they had not recently avoided promoting as rulers.

“Vitalijus Gailius leaves the chairmen of the Anti-Corruption Commission, who becomes the mayor of Joniškis and the Liberal Movement faction nominates me for the Anti-Corruption Commission. However, Karbauskis said that it would never be that only Ričardas Juška could pass,” he said E. Gentvilas.
