The case was brought by the Viruswaarheid (Truth About the Virus) group, which led a series of protests against the coronavirus in the Netherlands.

A trial court ruled in favor of the group in the past, but the government appealed it and an appeal will be heard on Friday.

In the absence of a decision on the appeal, the judges decided in an urgent hearing Tuesday night whether the previous court decision should be applied before Friday.

The judges supported the government’s position. According to one of them, the court wants to avoid the “yo-yo effect”.

“If we, as a court, do not stop [ankstesnio sprendimo], the curfew will be canceled ”, said this judge.

“It just came to our knowledge then [priimtas] Decision to go back to curfew? ”He asked, mentioning the meeting scheduled for Friday.

“In this case, the interests of the state are more important than Viruswaarheid,” he added.
