The train leaving the capital for Klaipeda on Tuesday noon is not empty.

“I’m not going back for Easter, because I’m going to Vilnius on Saturday. I bought the ticket, but yes, most of it is already redeemed,” said a young woman who met Klaipeda on the train.

“We drove from Klaipeda to Vilnius on Monday morning at 6 am, the train was full. Some people, without masks, were sitting with their faces exposed,” said the woman about the impressions of the trip.

Another said that she had visited her husband in Vilnius and was returning to Klaipeda, where he lived.

“I will travel to the seashore, I live there. And here I was to visit my husband, who lives in Vilnius. As if I did not have any documents to prove it,” she said.

At the same time, a trip to Trakai and Kaunas also departs from the train station. People travel for various reasons. Some open up: taking the train carries risks.

“I’m going to Trakai, it’s a walk. I do photography, I need to do photography somehow and with that weather.” Said the man who was traveling to Trakai

“I’m going to Kaunas to visit my mother, today is my mother’s birthday,” the woman who was holding a bouquet of flowers in her hands told LNK.

When asked if she was not afraid of being “caught”, the woman laughed.

“I won’t say anything. Very scared, of course. But everything is fine, I think it will be,” he said.

A woman going to the beach said she did not know if her trip was against the law.

“I am going to visit my relative to visit him,” said the interlocutor.

As the holiday weekend approaches, some train tickets have already sold out. Residents seem to have found an open window. The train passengers say that no one controls the passengers. So even when breaking the law, travelers feel brave.

“There was no check, only tickets are checked,” a woman told LNK.

The girl interviewed by journalists said that she travels to Klaipeda every two weeks, but has not yet seen the inspection.

Some travelers are surprised that hundreds of people travel by train. Inspections – no, do not monitor or officials. And if the passenger had a fever, no one would know.

“It would be safer to at least control the temperature before allowing people to get on the trains,” he said.

And that those who travel by train are rarely confirmed by the police themselves.

“Trains are probably rarely checked. But shuttle buses are inspected often enough. And as far as I know, there were cases where people were evicted,” said police representative Ramūnas Matonis.

However, officials warn that the reinforced forces will be working on Easter weekend, so it is advisable not to take risks and try not to go down. Train passengers are expected to be screened before departure.

“They assured us that the passengers would not be disembarked and would be subject to an administrative penalty. These people will be punished but not disembarked. I think the fine is enough, it helps to understand that it is better not to travel, ”Linas Baužys, general director of LTG LINK, told LNK News.

More officers will also work at various checkpoints.

Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė said on Tuesday that the movement restrictions in Lithuania were introduced only during the holiday period.

“We really ask everyone to stay home for the holidays,” he said.

The movement restrictions will remain in effect until April 6, but it does not mean that we will move freely on April 7.

“We will know what the situation is at the beginning of next week. Is it necessary for some municipalities to maintain that restriction, perhaps modify, to allow the movement of people who have a vaccine or a negative test result, if this is technically feasible in time for the police to verify it? There are really a lot of such ideas, “said I. Šimonytė.

For those preparing to travel by car over the holiday weekend, police officers recommend patience. Traffic and inspections are likely to cause congestion.

To save time, officials request that the necessary documents be provided in advance; otherwise, it takes time to verify the information.
