“The pandemic has forced us to change the shape of this tradition, this time we cannot all sit together at the breakfast table. But its essence remained the same. It is a prayer for the nation, for its neighbor, for those who suffer, ”says President Gitanas Nausėda.

The breakfast will be attended by the Metropolitan Archbishop of Vilnius Gintaras Grušas, the Evangelical Lutheran Bishop Mindaugas Sabutis and the Orthodox Bishop Ambrozijus Fedukovičius.

Birutė Zablockienė, a doctor of medical sciences who works at the Center for Infectious Diseases at the Santara Clinics, will share her testimony remotely.

Thoughts of gratitude at this difficult time will be shared remotely by people from Lithuania and other Lithuanian communities facing different pandemics.

The tradition of a prayer breakfast, where representatives of different religious denominations and different parties gather for spiritual communication, originated in the 20th century in the United States. President Valdas Adamkus started the tradition of national prayer breakfasts in Lithuania in 2001. Last year, it was revived by G. Nausėda.

A Presidency prayer breakfast will be broadcast on the national broadcaster at noon on Sunday.
